The Fearful Books

Books, books and more books

To me like ghosts they look

When I sit to play chess,

The worry of studying leaves me in a mess.

When I read about battles

It makes my state of mind- fatal

Why must we study history?

Why can’t we have movies of mystery?

We must always practice maths

To score good marks in tests

When my exams are near,

I begin to fear

But when my result comes

Yess…! All right were my sums.

My Time

Sitting all alone in my own

With no one to lead me on

Thinking about my past

I wonder why it didn’t last

The things that I did

The things that I said

Have become my past already

Thinking about my past

Wonder why it didn’t last

Am I afraid of the future?

I am not sure what is right or wrong

Want to surge ahead

But my mind is not so strong

Yet I am sure and confident

That one day I will break the ice

And come out with flying colours

For me, only the best will suffice.

School Life

In Silchar, there are many schools,

But it is Holy Cross that really rules

It gives us the best time of our life,

With days without pressure and strife

We make new friends

Who follow us through life’s changing trends,

There are many teachers to help us,

When we are in trouble they make a great fuss.

They scold us when we are in the wrong,

To stop us from going astray for long.

We live as a huge, United close family,

We take part in functions and often take out a rally.

The school moulds us into a source of light

So we can brighten the world in the dreary dark night.

Holy Cross

Home, sweet home, learning home,

Shining like a morning star,

Holy Cross is thy name.

Home, sweet home, knowledge home,

Shining in the heart of Silchar town.

Holy Cross is thy name.

Thou art a nest of wisdom,

Thou art home of knowledge,

Holy Cross is thy name.

Kids come from afar with sweet dreams,

And return home with sweet success,

Holy Cross thy name.

Heart’s Longing

Lost are the golden days of childhood,

In darkness and vain

Never did I realise what I could have gained!

The childhood was when

The only thing hurt was a bleeding toe,

But now it is the heart.

The only thing that mattered

Were presents,

But now it is the peers.

The highest achievement was

Mother’s soft kiss

But now it is money

When success only meant

Having a beautiful pencil,

But now all these seem funny.

Gone are those days of childhood

Hearing me with a feeling of lost.

Oh! How I long and wonder for them

Wishing only if they could to me at any cost.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
